PCVRC Members Attend USATF Awards Banquet
Five members of Pike Creek Valley running club attended the annual MA-USATF Award Luncheon in King of Prussia, PA on Saturday. Besides being treated to a very nice, filling meal along with 150 others, we saw the presentation of numerous awards given to people ranging from 8 year-old youths to a 95 year-old man, who all participated in a track or field event, a race-walking event, or the various series of races that MA-USATF has. We saw former PCVRC member Kyle Lanier receive an award as he had broken three age-group world records in the past year on the track and a team of 40 year-old 800 meter relay runners, who set a new world age-group record.

Among the honors, the following went to the club and it's members:
A check for $850 to the club, for finishing third in the Road Series ($500) and second in the Off-Road Series ($350). Vice President Ray Christensen, subbing for Jerry Herman, accepted the check for the club. This money will underwrite the 2010 dues for any club member who participated in at least four events combined, in the road and off-road series.

Two club members, Sharon Ruth and David McCorquodale, were recognized for receiving USATF Masters Long Distance Running Phidippides Gold Awards.

To the right of the names are the various prizes/certificates given to members who were not present and which could be found by this writer after the luncheon ended. They are currently in my possession. They will be available at each Wednesday evening run (6:00 P.M.) at Delcastle or Thursday at Delcastle if you ask me. They will be brought to the club's awards banquet and to future club events. Or picked up by arrangement with me. A notice will be made in a future bulletin if they are placed with another club board member.

The next bulletin will highlight the upcoming 2010 MA-USATF series.
