Their duties as a Board Members are described below.
Overview of Board Member Responsibilities
- To promote the civic interest of the State of Delaware by the education of the people of this
State in the physical and mental benefits to be derived from the participation in the sport of running.
- To stimulate, improve and perpetuate the interest, participation and performance of the people of the
State of Delaware in the healthful sport of running.
- A desire to help the PCVRC achieve it mission by hearing feedback from the membership.
- To assist other members in achieving their running goals.
- To tell other persons about the club.
- To volunteer.
Responsibility of a Board Member
The PCVRC board is responsible for the direction of the PCVRC. They are volunteers trying to make a
difference. The responsibilities of a Board Member depends on the function and are as follows.
President - Oversees planning and administration for the club by organizing and facilitating activities
of board members and committee chairs.
Vice President - Works with president on specific projects and objectives with understanding
this prepares the V.P. to move up to position of president.
Secretary - Performs administrative duties for club and may assist president or vice president
with special projects.
Treasurer - Oversees the disbursement of club funds and works with board and committee chairs
on the preparation and use of annual budget.
Membership Committee Chairperson - Develops programs to respond to inquirers of prospective
members, facilitates orientation of new members and works with board members on retention programs
for existing members.
DDC 15K Race Director - Organizes and oversees the staging of our club race in a safe and
financial stable manner. Works with appropriate city or state agencies in obtaining permits, develops
sponsor relationships.
Social Committee Chairperson - Organizes social events which appeal to the majority of club
members as opportunities to enjoy contacts in our club and the running community at large.
Pacer Editor - Oversees the preparation and distribution of the club newsletter and related
publications. Insures communication to the membership of current goals and objectives of the board.
Appointed Board Member - The president may appoint additional members of the board for assistance
with specific committees or special projects, such as web-master, publicity, club apparel program.
